Streszczenie. W 2022 r. Gao poddała analizie 1429 ar-tykułów zawartych w latach 1981- 2021 r. w największej, choć nie jedynej bazie publikacji naukowych Web of Science Core Collection. O rosnącym zainteresowaniu pisaniem ekspresywnym świadczą liczby badań w kolejnych latach. W 1992 r. zamieszczono tam jedynie 4 artykuły, w 2000 r. – 14, w 2006 r. – 60, a od 2016 r. roczna liczba przekroczyła 100. Wśród 4084 autorów tych prac z całego świata dominują badacze z USA, Wielkiej Brytanii i Kanady. Abstract. In 2022, Xiaojuan Gao, a scientist from China, pub-lished the results of a bibliometric analysis of the state and re-search trends over 40 years on expressive writing. This is a pioneering work, unique in this field, and allows for an interesting perspective on the issue, which is why its results are presented in this article. Gao analyzed 1,429 articles from 1981 to 2021 in the Web of Science Core Collection, the largest, though not the only, database of scientific publications. The growing interest in expressive writing is evidenced by the number of studies conducted in subsequent years. In 1992, only four articles were published, 14 in 2000, 60 in 2006, and since 2016, the annual number has exceeded 100. Among the 4,084 authors of these works from around the world, researchers from the USA, UK, and Cana-da predominate. The method is used in various disciplines, in-cluding the 12 most popular fields, listed in order of frequency of expressive writing topics: psychology, education, psychiatry, neuroscience and neurology, rehabilitation, sociology, public health, environmental and occupational health, medicine, nur-sing, art, health sciences and services, and linguistics. The most frequent keyword combinations are also illustrated, outlining research areas and dividing thematic areas over the years. The leading topics from 1994 to 2008 were health. From 2010 to 2018, the focus was more diverse, with more research examining "individual differences, intrusive thoughts, and depressive symptoms". After 2018, the primary focus was on "positive effects and exposure therapy" — that is, exposure to situations that, while safe, arouse anxiety in the individual, and ultimately, through repeated exposure, this anxiety decreases.
